Composition:

Active ingredient: Tropicamide 1%.
Preservative: Benzalkonium chloride 0.01%.

Product Description: 

Mydriacyl is a sterile topical ophthalmic solution.
It blocks cholinergic stimulation of the iris sphincter and ciliary muscle, producing pupil dilation (mydriasis) and paralysis of accommodation (cycloplegia).
Onset occurs within 15–30 minutes, with effects lasting 3–8 hours; full recovery may take up to 24 hours in some patients.

Indications for Use:

Diagnostic mydriasis (pupil dilation).
Cycloplegia for refraction testing.

Method of Administration and Dosage:

Instill 1–2 drops in the conjunctival sac.
Effects may require repeat dosing in heavily pigmented irises.
For diagnostic use only; not for therapeutic treatment.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to tropicamide or any component of the formulation.

Precautions:

• For topical ophthalmic use only; not for injection.
  
• May cause CNS disturbances, especially in pediatric patients.
  
• Risk of transient elevation of intraocular pressure.
  
• Remove contact lenses before use.
  
• Apply digital pressure to the lacrimal sac for 2–3 minutes after instillation to reduce systemic absorption.

Adverse Reactions / Side Effects:

Common: stinging, burning, photophobia, blurred vision.
Less common: headache, dry mouth, dizziness.
Rare but serious: psychotic reactions, behavioral disturbances, increased intraocular pressure.

Pregnancy and Lactation:

Animal reproduction studies not conducted; use only if benefits outweigh risks.
Unknown if excreted in breast milk; caution advised.

Store at controlled room temperature (15–25 °C), protected from light.
