Composition:
Midodrine Hydrochloride 2.5 mg per tablet.
Product Description:
Midodrine is an alpha-adrenergic agonist that increases vascular tone by stimulating receptors in blood vessels, thereby raising blood pressure.
It is indicated for patients with severe orthostatic hypotension whose daily activities are impaired despite standard care.
Indications for Use:
Symptomatic orthostatic hypotension (dizziness, fainting upon standing).
May improve ability to perform daily activities by reducing hypotensive episodes.
Method of Administration and Dosage:
Adults: 10 mg three times daily (morning, midday, late afternoon), not later than 6 p.m.
Tablets should be taken with water, not after evening meals or before bedtime to avoid supine hypertension.
Dosage individualized by physician.
Contraindications:
Severe organic heart disease.
Hypertension.
Urinary retention.
Pheochromocytoma.
Thyrotoxicosis.
Hypersensitivity to midodrine or excipients.
Precautions:
Monitor supine and standing blood pressure regularly.
Avoid lying down soon after dosing.
Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment.
Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):
Common: goosebumps, scalp tingling, chills, urinary urgency/frequency.
Serious: supine hypertension, slow heartbeat, dizziness, fainting, blurred vision, pounding in ears.
Pregnancy and Lactation:
Contraindicated unless benefits outweigh risks.
Storage Conditions:
Store at room temperature (15-30°C), away from moisture and light.
