Compostion:
Each tablet contains fenofibrate 145 mg.
Product Description:
Lipanthyl is a lipid-modifying agent.
Fenofibrate is a fibric acid derivative that reduces triglycerides and increases HDL cholesterol.
Tablets are film-coated for oral administration.
Indications for Use:
Treatment of hypertriglyceridemia and mixed hyperlipidemia (combined hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia), particularly when statins are contraindicated or not tolerated.
May be used as adjunct to diet and lifestyle modification.
Method of Administration and Dosage:
Oral administration, usually one tablet daily with food.
Dosage may vary depending on lipid profile and physician’s judgment.
Elderly patients or those with renal impairment may require dose adjustment.
Contraindications:
Severe renal impairment, active liver disease (including biliary cirrhosis), gallbladder disease, hypersensitivity to fenofibrate or excipients.
Contraindicated in children.
Precautions:
Monitor liver function and renal function during therapy.
Risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis increases when combined with statins.
Use caution in patients with hypothyroidism or pre-existing muscle disorders.
Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):
Common: gastrointestinal disturbances (abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea).
Less common: elevated liver enzymes, gallstones, muscle pain, rash.
Rare: rhabdomyolysis, pancreatitis.
Pregnancy and Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy due to lack of sufficient safety data.
Fenofibrate is contraindicated during breastfeeding.
