Composition:
Each film-coated tablet contains:
- Cefadroxil monohydrate 1.0495 g (equivalent to 1 g Cefadroxil).
Inactive ingredients:
Colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, low-substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose, titanium dioxide, talc, Eudragit E100.
Description:
CURISAFE is a broad-spectrum oral antibiotic from the first-generation cephalosporin class.
It is effective against Gram-positive and certain Gram-negative bacteria responsible for respiratory, urinary, skin, and soft tissue infections.
The drug is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and provides prolonged antibacterial activity, allowing twice-daily dosing.
Indications for Use:
- Upper respiratory tract infections: tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, otitis;
- Lower respiratory tract infections: bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia (mild to moderate);
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections;
- Skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
Dosage and Method of Administration:
Adults: 1 g every 12 hours (2 g daily).
Children (over 6 years): 50 mg/kg/day divided into two doses, not exceeding the adult dosage.
Renal impairment:
- 40 mL/min: 1 g every 12 hours
- 20-40 mL/min: 500 mg every 12 hours
- <20 mL/min: 500 mg every 24 hours Swallow the tablet whole with water, preferably during meals.
Treatment duration: 7-10 days; for streptococcal infections - at least 10 days.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to Cefadroxil, cephalosporins, penicillins, or other β-lactam antibiotics;
- History of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis, angioedema);
- Children under 6 years (tablet form).
Precautions:
- Cross-allergy may occur with penicillins;
- Adjust dosage in renal impairment;
- Prolonged use may result in C. difficile-associated diarrhea or bacterial resistance;
- Caution when combined with nephrotoxic drugs (aminoglycosides, loop diuretics).
Side Effects:
- Hypersensitivity: rash, itching, urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis;
- Gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain;
- Hepatic: elevated transaminases;
- Hematologic: eosinophilia, neutropenia (rare);
- Dermatologic: Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis (very rare).
Pregnancy and Lactation:
- Animal and clinical data do not indicate teratogenic risk.
- Cefadroxil passes into breast milk in small amounts; discontinue breastfeeding if the infant develops diarrhea or rash.
Storage Conditions:
Store below 30°C in a dry, dark place.
Keep out of reach of children.
