Composition: 

Each tablet contains Rifaximin 550 mg.

Product Description: 

Gastrobiotic is a non-systemic antibiotic derived from rifamycin.
It acts locally in the gastrointestinal tract, with minimal absorption, making it effective for infections and conditions related to gut flora imbalance.

Indications for Use: 

Treatment of traveler’s diarrhea caused by non-invasive strains of Escherichia coli.
Management of irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D).
Reduction of recurrence in hepatic encephalopathy.

Method of Administration and Dosage: 

Administered orally.
Typical adult dose is 550 mg twice daily for hepatic encephalopathy, or as prescribed by physician for other indications.
Tablets should be swallowed whole with water.

Contraindications: 

Hypersensitivity to rifaximin, rifamycin derivatives, or excipients.
Severe hepatic impairment without medical supervision.

Precautions: 

Use with caution in patients with liver dysfunction.
Monitor for Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea.
Not effective against systemic bacterial infections due to poor absorption.

Adverse Reactions (Side Effects): 

Common: nausea, abdominal pain, flatulence.
Uncommon: headache, fever, peripheral edema.
Rare: hypersensitivity reactions.
