About the brand

Dapaglif Plus XR 10/1000 mg 14 tablets

Description

This combination drug is used to treat type 2 diabetes in adults.

Composition

Dapagliflozin - 10 mg

Metformin - 1000 mg

Indications for use

• Hypoglycemic effect: lowering blood glucose levels by increasing its excretion in urine (dapagliflozin) and reducing its production in the liver (metformin).
• Weight loss: due to the loss of calories in urine and improved metabolism.
• Positive effect on the cardiovascular system: reducing the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in patients with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease or with multiple risk factors.

Method of administration and dosage

General information:

• Once daily due to the prolonged form of metformin.

Starting dose:

• For patients starting therapy with the combination of dapagliflozin and metformin, it is recommended to:

o Dapaglif Plus 10/500 mg XR once daily, then switch to 10/1000 mg if the drug is well tolerated and an increased effect is needed.

Switching from single drugs:

• If the patient is already taking dapagliflozin (10 mg) and metformin (1000 mg or 500 mg twice daily), they can be switched to Dapaglif Plus 10/1000 mg XR once daily to:
o reduce the frequency of dosing;
o improve compliance;
o ensure stable glucose levels due to the steady release of metformin.

Directions for use:

• Take in the morning with food to reduce the risk of gastrointestinal side effects (especially from metformin).
• Do not break or chew the tablet, as this will disrupt the extended-release mechanism.
• If you miss a dose:
o Take it as soon as possible if a short time has passed;
o Do not double the dose the next day.

Dosage adjustment:

• Patients with impaired renal function (SCF from 30 to 60 ml/min/1.73 m²) may require an adjustment of the metformin dose or discontinuation of the combination form.
• In elderly patients (≥ 65 years), the dosage should be adjusted with particular caution due to the potential for decreased renal function and an increased risk of dehydration.

Reminder:
Dosage adjustment should only be performed by a doctor!
