Compound:

Each ml of solution contains:

Ciprofloxacin 3 mg

Auxiliary components:

Benzalkonium chloride 0.06 mg.

Properties:

A broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, a fluoroquinolone derivative.

Suppresses bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerases II and IV, responsible for the process of supercoiling of chromosomal DNA around nuclear RNA, which is necessary for reading genetic information), disrupts DNA synthesis, growth and division of bacteria; causes pronounced morphological changes (including the cell wall and membranes) and rapid death of the bacterial cell.

It acts bactericidal on gram-negative organisms during dormancy and division (because it affects not only DNA gyrase, but also causes lysis of the cell wall), on gram-positive microorganisms – only during the period of division.

Indications:

In ophthalmology: treatment of corneal ulcers and infections of the anterior segment of the eyeball and its appendages caused by bacteria sensitive to ciprofloxacin in adults, newborns (from 0 to 27 days), infants and infants (from 28 days to 23 months), children (from 2 up to 11 years old) and adolescents (from 12 to 18 years old).

Dosage and administration:

The optimal dosage regimen is determined by the doctor. Compliance of the dosage form of a particular drug with indications for use and dosing regimen should be strictly observed.

For instillations in the eyes in the appropriate dosage form.

Do not instill subconjunctivally or into the anterior chamber of the eye.

It is used according to special schemes depending on the indications.

The usual dose is 1-2 drops in each eye 4 times a day. For severe infections, the first 2 days the dose may be increased to 1-2 drops in each eye every 2 hours.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin and other quinolones.

Carefully:

Atherosclerosis of cerebral vessels, impaired cerebral circulation, convulsive syndrome – due to the risk of developing adverse reactions from the central nervous system.

Precautionary measures:

After opening the vial, the drug can be used for 28 days.

Use should be discontinued if any signs of hypersensitivity appear. The patient should be informed that if, after applying the drops, conjunctival hyperemia continues for a long time or increases, then you should stop using the drug and consult a doctor.

Side effects:

From the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions.

From the nervous system: infrequently – headache; rarely – dizziness.

On the part of the organ of vision: often – precipitates on the cornea, discomfort in the eye, conjunctival injection.

From the digestive system: often – dysgeusia; infrequently – nausea; rarely – abdominal pain, diarrhea.
