Composition:

Each tablet contains:
Acetazolamide — 250 mg.

Product Description:

Acetazolamide is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor with multiple pharmacological effects:
Diuretic action: increases excretion of sodium, potassium, and water; used in edema of various origins.
Antiglaucoma effect: reduces intraocular pressure; effective in open‑angle and angle‑closure glaucoma.
Anticonvulsant effect: used in certain forms of epilepsy, especially petit mal seizures.
Altitude sickness prevention: accelerates acclimatization, prevents headache, nausea, and shortness of breath.

Indications for Use:

• Glaucoma (including acute attacks).
• Seizure disorders (as part of combination therapy).
• Edematous conditions (including cardiac origin).
• Prevention of altitude sickness.

Method of Administration and Dosage:

• Adults with glaucoma: 250 mg, 1–4 times daily.
• Children 12–18 years with glaucoma: 15–30 mg/kg/day, divided every 6–8 hours (max 1 g/day).
• Adults with fluid retention: initial dose 250–375 mg in the morning daily.
• Adults with epilepsy: 250–1000 mg/day.
• Children with epilepsy: 8–30 mg/kg/day (max 1 g/day). Tablets are taken orally with sufficient water.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to acetazolamide or excipients.
Severe hepatic or renal impairment.
Electrolyte imbalance.

Precautions:

Use cautiously in mild to moderate hepatic or renal impairment.
Monitor electrolyte balance during prolonged therapy.
Discontinue if adverse reactions occur.

Adverse Reactions / Side Effects:

Possible: weakness, drowsiness, paresthesia, gastrointestinal disturbances.
Rare: allergic reactions, metabolic acidosis, electrolyte imbalance.

Storage Conditions:

Store in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 25 °C.
Keep out of reach of children.
