Composition:

Each tablet contains:

Amlodipine besylate – 6.9mg (equiv. Amlodipine – 5mg).

Auxiliary components: starch, cell lactose, aerosil, talc and magnesium stearate.

Description:

Amylo is the besylated salt of amlodipine, a long-acting calcium channel blocker.

Indications:

for the treatment of hypertension, can be u alone or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs. Coronary artery disease (CHD): chronic stable angina pectoris,

Mode of application:

the usual starting dose is 5 mg once a day with a maximum dose of 10 mg once a day. Thin, frail or elderly patients or patients with hepatic impairment can start with 2.5 mg once a day. Adjust dosage according to the needs of each patient. Treatment should continue for 7-14 days. The recommended dose for chronic stable or vasospastic angina is 5-10 mg, with a lower dose recommended for the elderly and patients with hepatic impairment – most patients require 10 mg for adequate effect. The recommended dose for patients with coronary artery disease is 5-10 mg once a day.

Children: the effective dose in patients age 17 years is from 2.5 to 5 mg once a day.

Contraindications:

hypersensitivity to amlodipine or other substances in the composition.

Precautions:

possible symptomatic lowering of blood pressure, especially in patients with severe aortic stenosis. Progression of angina pectoris and acute myocardial infarction may develop after starting or increasing the dose of the drug, especially in patients with severe obstructive coronary artery disease. The drug is not a beta-blocker and does not protect against the dangers associated with abrupt withdrawal of the beta-blocker; any withdrawal should be by gradual tapering of the beta-blocker dose. Patients with hepatic impairment: Give slowly to patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Side effects:

occurred in less than 1% of the subjects. Central and peripheral nervous system, gastrointestinal tract: constipation, diarrhea flatulence, pancreatitis. General: allergic reaction, back pain, hot flashes, malaise, irritability. Musculoskeletal system: arthrosis,

muscle spasms. Psychiatry: sexual dysfunction (male and female), insomnia, nervousness, depression. Respiratory system: shortness of breath, epistaxis. Skin: itching, rash. Possible visual impairment, conjunctivitis, eye pain, tinnitus. Dry mouth, increased sweating. Metabolic and nutritional: hyperglycemia, thirst. Hematopoiesis: leukopenia, thrombocytopenia.

Amilo has been used safely in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, wellcompensated congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, diabetes mellitus, and abnormal lipid profiles.

Pregnancy and lactation:

there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Amlodipine should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. It is not known that Amlodipine is excreted in human milk. Therefore, it is recommended to stop breastfeeding while using the drug.
