Blokium Diu 100/25 mg 15 tablets
Composition:
Each tablet contains Atenolol 100 mg and Chlorthalidone 25 mg.
Excipients include corn starch, povidone, sodium lauryl sulfate, talc, colloidal silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate.
Product Description:
Blokium Diu is a fixed‑dose antihypertensive preparation combining a cardioselective beta‑blocker (atenolol) and a thiazide‑like diuretic (chlorthalidone).
It reduces blood pressure by lowering cardiac output and promoting sodium and water excretion.
Indications for Use:
Treatment of arterial hypertension, angina pectoris, and certain cardiac arrhythmias.
Method of Administration and Dosage:
Administered orally.
Dosage is determined by the physician depending on the patient’s blood pressure response.
Tablets should be swallowed whole with water.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to atenolol, chlorthalidone, or excipients;
- severe bradycardia;
- cardiogenic shock;
- acute heart failure;
- severe renal impairment;
- electrolyte imbalance.
Precautions:
Use with caution in patients with diabetes, gout, hepatic impairment, or bronchospastic disease.
Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided to prevent rebound hypertension or angina.
Concomitant use with other antihypertensives, digitalis glycosides, or potassium‑lowering agents may increase risk of adverse effects.
Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):
Possible adverse reactions include fatigue, dizziness, bradycardia, hypotension, electrolyte disturbances, and gastrointestinal upset.
Serious risks involve arrhythmias, worsening of heart failure, and severe hypokalemia.
Pregnancy and Lactation:
Use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended unless the potential benefit outweighs the risk.
Storage Conditions:
Store below 30°C, protected from moisture and direct sunlight.
