Thiotacid Original 600 mg 30 tablets

Composition:

Active substance: Alpha lipoic acid (thioctic acid) 600 mg.
Excipients:
Hypromellose
Macrogol 6000
Titanium dioxide (E171)
Talc
Magnesium stearate
Coating colorants

Product Discription:

Alpha lipoic acid is an endogenous antioxidant, similar in mechanism of action to B‑group vitamins.
It participates in oxidative phosphorylation reactions, protects cells from free radicals, increases glutathione levels, improves neuronal trophism, and reduces the severity of polyneuropathy symptoms.
Additionally, it has hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, and hepatoprotective effects.

Indications for use:

Diabetic polyneuropathy (sensorimotor).
Alcoholic polyneuropathy.
Additional support in metabolic disorders and oxidative stress.

Method of administration and dosage:

Recommended dose: 1 tablet (600 mg) once daily.
Take on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before breakfast, with sufficient liquid.
Do not chew the tablet.
In severe cases, treatment may begin with intravenous infusions of alpha lipoic acid, followed by transition to tablets.
Treatment is long‑term, as polyneuropathy has a chronic course.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to alpha lipoic acid or excipients.
Pediatric age.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Precautions:

Possible enhancement of the hypoglycemic effect of insulin and oral antidiabetic agents — blood glucose monitoring is required.
Do not combine with iron or magnesium preparations and dairy products simultaneously (due to chelating properties of alpha lipoic acid).
Alcohol reduces the effectiveness of therapy and accelerates progression of polyneuropathy.

Adverse reaction / Side effects:

Sometimes: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
Rare: allergic reactions (skin rash, itching).
Possible specific odor of urine, without clinical significance.

Pregnancy and lactation:

Use is not recommended due to insufficient safety data.

Storage conditions:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C, in a dry place, protected from light, out of the reach of children.

Packaging:

Cardboard box containing a blister with 20 film‑coated tablets.
