Composition:
Seretide contains per inhalaion:
50 µg salmeterol (as xinafoate),
500 µg fluticasone propionate,
12.5 µg lactose monohydrate with milk protein.
Product Description:
Seretide is a fixed-dose combination of a long-acting beta-2 agonist and an inhaled corticosteroid.
It improves lung function, reduces inflammation, and prevents exacerbations in asthma and COPD.
Indications for Use:
Indicated for maintenance treatment of asthma when combination therapy is appropriate, and for COPD with severe airflow limitation and a history of exacerbations.
Method of Administration and Dosage:
Administered by inhalation.
Dosage depends on disease severity and is determined by the physician.
Patients must be trained in correct inhalation technique.
It is not indicated for relief of acute bronchospasm; a short-acting bronchodilator should be available for such cases.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to salmeterol, fluticasone, lactose, or milk protein.
Not for children under 4 years.
Contraindicated for acute asthma attacks.
Precautions:
Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, tuberculosis, systemic infections, or lactose intolerance.
Monitor adrenal function, growth in children, and risk of pneumonia in COPD patients.
Adverse Reactions (Side Effects):
Common reactions include headache, throat irritation, hoarseness, oral candidiasis, tremor, and palpitations.
Serious risks include paradoxical bronchospasm and systemic corticosteroid effects.
Pregnancy and Lactation:
Use only if benefits outweigh risks.
