Lipitor 10 mg 28 tablets

Composition:

Each film-coated tablet contains:
Atorvastatin (as atorvastatin calcium) 10 mg.
Contains lactose and standard excipients.

Description:

Lipitor is a lipid-lowering medicine belonging to the statin class (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor).
It reduces total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, and increases HDL-cholesterol.
Used as an adjunct to diet.

Indications for Use:

Dosage and Method of Administration:

Taken orally once daily.
With or without food.
Adults:
Starting dose: 10-20 mg daily.
Dose range: 10-80 mg daily.
LDL-C should be assessed after about 4 weeks.

Contraindications:

Acute liver failure.
Decompensated cirrhosis.
Hypersensitivity to components.

Precautions:

Use with caution in:

  • Elderly patients.
  • Hypothyroidism.
  • Renal impairment.
  • Patients on interacting drugs.

Risks include:

  • Myopathy and rhabdomyolysis.
  • Liver enzyme elevation.
  • Increased blood glucose.
  • Avoid excessive grapefruit juice.
