LolTrade name:
Yostiretic
30 tablets
Composition:
Each tablet contains:
Amiloride HCl 5 mg.
Hydrochlorothiazide 50 mg.
Properties:
Yostiretic is a diuretic and antihypertensive, combining the potent natriuretic action of hydrochlorothiazide with the potassium-conserving property of amiloride HCl.
Pharmacological Actions:
Hydrochlorothiazide reduces the reabsorption of electrolytes from renal tubules, thereby increasing the excretion of sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium and consequently water. The onset of action after oral administration occurs in 2 hours and reaches a peak effect in about 4 hours.
Amiloride HCl is a mild diuretic acting on distal renal tubules. It is described as a potassium-sparing agent (antikaliuretic) because it increases the excretion of sodium, chloride, and reduces the potassium excretion.
Precautions:
Caution should be exercised when using Yostiretic in patients with impaired liver functions, diabetes mellitus or respiratory and metabolic acidosis.
Indications:
Hypertension
Edema of cardiac origin
Hepatic cirrhosis with ascites and edema
In patients under vigorous diuretic treatment for prolonged periods (to minimize the development of hypokalemia, or excessive potassium loss)
Hypertensive patients in whom maintenance of normal serum potassium levels is of clinical importance, e.g. digitalized patients and patients with cardiac arrhythmias
