Composition:

(amoxycillin 250 mg/5 ml + clavulanic acid 62 mg ) 312 mg/5 ml

Medical Description:

Hibiotic is an antibiotic used for the short term treatment of infections in different parts of the body caused by bacteria.

Antibiotic, belongs to the penicillin group used in the treatment of bacterial rhinosinusitis, pneumonia, otitis media, prophylaxis or treatment against bite wound infection, diabetic foot infection, odontogenic infection and urinary tract infection.

Properties:

This drug contains the following compounds:

Amoxicillin: It is an antibiotic belonging to a group of drugs called penicillin, and treats many bacterial infections by stopping the growth of disease-causing bacteria by inhibiting the biological structure of the bacterial cell wall, leading to its death.

Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents bacteria from becoming resistant to amoxicillin. Clavulanic acid is commonly used with amoxicillin to extend its coverage to a wider range of beta-lactamase-producing bacteria, as clavulanic acid does not have any antimicrobial activity by itself, but works by preventing the bacterial destruction of beta-lactam in amoxicillin.

Indications:

Treatment of lower respiratory tract infections.

Treatment of otitis media.

Treatment of sinusitis.

Treatment of bacterial urinary tract infection.

Treatment of skin infections.

Treatment of bacterial oral and gum infections.

Treatment of infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing strains, such as Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, and Staphylococcusaureus.

Prevention of infection as a result of contaminated surgery.

Direction of Use:

Follow your doctor’s instructions about how and when to take (amoxycillin + clavulanic acid).

Shake well before each dose

Then make sure you measure the dose accurately. Your Pharmacist will be able to recommend a good measure to use.

Screw the lid back onto the bottle tightly after measuring the dose.

Take (amoxycillin + clavulanic acid) at the start of a meal.

This makes it less likely to cause stomach discomfort.

Dosage:

The doctor determines the doses according to the patient’s condition, which are as follows:

-Ear, nose and throat infections:

Mild to moderate infection: 500 mg of amoxicillin and 125 mg of clavulanic acid orally, repeated every 12 hours, or 250 mg of amoxicillin and 125 mg of clavulanic acid, repeated every 8 hours, for 10 days.

-Severe infection: 875 mg of amoxicillin and 125 mg of clavulanic acid orally, repeated every 12 hours, or 500 mg of amoxicillin and 125 mg of clavulanic acid orally, repeated every 8 hours, for 7 to 10 days.

-Genitourinary tract infections: 875 mg orally, repeated every 12 hours, or 500 mg orally, repeated every 8 hours.

COPD episodes: 500 mg orally, repeated every 8 hours.

-Sinusitis: 2000 mg, i.e. two extended-release tablets, every 12 hours, for 10 days.

-Skin infections:

Mild to moderate infection: 500 mg orally, repeated every 12 hours, or 250 mg, repeated every 8 hours.

-Severe infection: 875 mg orally, repeated every 12 hours.

-Lower respiratory infections: 875 mg orally, repeated every 12 hours, or 500 mg orally, repeated every 8 hours for 10 to 14 days.

-Dosage of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid for children

The doctor determines the dose according to the child’s weight, so that it is: 30 mg/kg daily, divided into two doses.

Contraindication:

Hypersensitivity to any component of this drug.

Allergy to penicillin or cephalosporins.

Prior jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with amoxicillin/clavulanos.

Precautions:

-Use this medicine with caution and under medical supervision in case of kidney disease, liver, or mononucleosis caused by infection with the Estin-Barr virus.

-Do not use extended-release tablets for kidney patients.

-This medicine is not used to treat viral infections, such as colds and flu, as this may lead to the emergence of antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria.

-It is worth noting that the risk of diarrhea is higher when using amoxicillin with clavulanic acid than when using amoxicillin alone. Treatment also increases the risk of -Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, and it is possible to develop this type of diarrhea for two months after use.-

Pregnancy:

There is no evidence to prove that amoxicillin with clavulanic acid causes any harm to pregnant women, so it can be used during the months of pregnancy after consulting a specialist.

Lactation:

This medicine may be excreted in breast milk during breastfeeding, so it should be used with caution during that period after consulting a specialist.

Storage:

Store at room temperature. Keep away from moisture, light, and out of the reach of children. Do not store dry powder at temperatures above 25°C (77°F).

After reconstitution keep in fridge for only 7 days
