Composition:

Each p/ o tablet contains:

Zolmitriptan – 2.5mg

Properties:

Zolmitriptan causes vasoconstriction in intracranial blood vessels (including arteriovenous anastomoses) and sensory endings of the trigeminal nerve and the release of antiinflammatory neuropeptides.

Indications: treatment of acute migraine with or without aura in adults.

Mode of application:

the starting dose is 2.5 mg or less. The dose can be re-taken after 2 hours if symptoms persist. The maximum dose is 10 mg per day. Zolmitriptan is taken with or without food.

Contraindications:

hypersensitivity to zolmitriptan. Ischemic heart disease, spasm of the coronary arteries.

Uncontrolled arterial hypertension, history cerebrovascular insufficiency or transient ischemic attack.

Side effects:

Spasm of the coronary arteries, increased appetite. Liver dysfunction and thirst.

Rarely: anorexia, constipation.

Drowsiness, parasthesia, myalgia, muscle weakness, fatigue.

Palpitations, angina pectoris, headache, urticaria.

Drug interaction:

antidepressants increase the toxicity of triptans to the central nervous system. The combination with ergot alkaloids increases the risk of vasospasm. Cimetidine inhibits the metabolism of zolmitriptan.

Pregnancy and lactation:

safe use during pregnancy and lactation ha not been established.

Precautionary measures:

recommended as monotherapy and should not be taken concurrently with other treatments for acute migraine. The drug should be used only when a clear diagnosis of migraine has been established. Feelings of tightness, pain, pressure and heaviness in the atrium, throat, neck and jaw were noted after treatment with Amigravest tablets. Patients who experience signs or symptoms suggestive of angina pectoris and patients who experience other symptoms or signs indicative of decreased arterial blood flow, such as ischemic bowel syndrome or Raynaud’s syndrome, should be monitored by ECG if dosing is resumed and similar symptoms recur. It is prescribed with caution in patients with impaired liver function, with epilepsy or seizures.

This drug is intended to relieve migraine attacks, but not to prevent or reduce the number of migraine attacks.

Storage:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30C, protected from light and out of the reach of children.

The cardboard box contains 1 blister, 4 tablets and paper instructions.
